At Loanables, we eliminate this risk by never asking for sensitive financial information, period.  If we don't store it, then we can't lose it!  We simply help Borrowers find Loaners and let you handle the payments however you want.  We don't even share your actual address or your email with the other party until you have both agreed to a rental transaction.

We use 128-bit SSL encryption for portions of the site that deal with things like account maintenance, so that your basic "phone book" info (name, address, phone number) remains secure.
